Report: Neymar Was Blindsided by PSG’s Decision to Sack Tuchel

Paris Saint-Germain made a grand decision on Christmas Eve with its decision to sack manager Thomas Tuchel. The German manager was just months removed from leading PSG to its first-ever appearance in the UEFA Champions League final and also had a mere six months left on his current contract. But in the end, PSG decided to pull the plug early on Tuchel’s tenure with the club.

PSG’s decision to sack Tuchel had mixed reactions from the players.

According to a report from L’Equipe (via OnzeMondial), Neymar was one player who did not see the decision coming.

The report notes that Neymar and Tuchel had a formidable relationship and that it had remained intact as of late. PSG’s decision to sack Tuchel took the star forward by surprise and is “very disappointed” to see the manager go.

More so, Neymar is also relatively confused by the timing of PSG’s call to sack Tuchel, especially as the team was at the midway point of the season.

For now, PSG will now have to look forward to the reign of Mauricio Pochettino, who will reportedly take over as the new manager for the team. The Argentine manager will take the job as PSG sits at third place in the Ligue 1 standings.
