Paris Saint-Germain went through difficult situations during their 2020-21 UEFA Champions League group stage dealing with multiple injuries and unexpected sanctions that nearly had them heading into UEFA Europa League.

Nonetheless, the capital club managed to close out with a three-game winning streak, allowing them to take first place in Group H. Now the French side has qualified for the Champions League’s knockout stages and they’ve also while increased their points in the UEFA club rankings.

Europe’s governing body uses the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League to determine club coefficients. These points help determine seeding in European competitions.

Culture PSG states that with the victory against Leipzig, the Parisian team adds 2,000 more points to its annual total and the 5,000 qualifying bonus for punching their ticket into the next round. Its total for the current season is 17,000 points, bonus included.

According to the UEFA website, PSG has 101,000 points and is the only seventh in the general club classification, which puts them ahead of Sevilla and Manchester United, who sit behind the capital club.

The next club in front of Les Parisiens is Manchester City FC, who currently has 110,000 points in the ranking with 105,000. PSG can leap over The Citizens if they have a terrible performance in the Round of 16 while the capital club makes a deep run in the competition.
