Paris Saint-Germain has struggled this first half of the Ligue 1 season. The capital club endured a loss to Olympique de Marseille, who hadn’t won a Le Classique fixture since 2011.

Les Parisiens have also dropped points and looked like a squad with no identity, which has resulted in them having to fight for the Ligue 1 crown as they currently sit in third place.

Despite PSG getting out of a predicament that saw them nearly face the reality of UEFA Europa League football, they did qualify for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. However, that wasn’t enough for manager Thomas Tuchel to keep his job.

Sport Bild’s Christian Falk tweeted out that PSG decided to pull the plug on the German tactician and sack him the day after they won 4-0 against RC Strasbourg Alsace.

Leonardo arrived in 2019 to again become the club’s sporting director and inherited Tuchel as the manager. Now he will have the chance to bring in his guy to take over the position.
