When Rafinha’s transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, not many pegged much from the 27-year-old. Over the last few weeks, the Brazil international is becoming an indispensable player for the capital club.
After Les Parisiens win over Montpellier HSC, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel singled out Rafinha for his form and praised the midfielder. The German tactician stated that he’d followed Rafinha through his career with Barça and admired the way he plays.
Rafinha has started six of seven fixtures for PSG in Ligue 1, where he’s averaging 76 minutes per game and has two assists with three big chances created. Furthermore, he’s averaging 1.6 key passes and 7.4 ground duels per game.
Tuchel isn’t alone in praising Rafinha. Former capital club manager Luis Fernández is singing the praise of the 27-year-old too during an interview with Le Parisien.
“If he continues on these bases, he becomes indisputable holder! Today when I see it, I just don’t find it interesting but super interesting,” Fernández said. “In the heart of the game, he gives you that technical touch and that quick decision-making. With him, it won’t take three minutes to figure out what to do. It is: control, pass, I eliminate, I give and, that, in a team, you need it.”
Like Juan Bernat, Rafinha could be a low purchase that not many expected much from and become a vital PSG player.
