Over the last few days, the football media has begun to speculate over the future of FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi after his former teammate, Neymar Jr., made comments to ESPN about wanting to reunite and play again with the Argentina international.
As a result, football analysts and other media members speculating what a potential arrival of Messi to Paris Saint-Germain would mean to the future of Kylian Mbappé. Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero stated on El Chiringuito de Jugones that if Messi were to head to the French capital, it would push the 21-year-old to Real Madrid.
Despite all the hoopla on whether Neymar will stay with Les Parisiens, could Messi leave Barça, and whether Mbappé wants to extend his contract or head to Los Blancos, it’s all for nothing according to L’Equipe journalist Etienne Moatti.
Moatti believes that everyone will remain where they are and that the speculation is for noting during his appearance on L’Équipe du Soir (via Canal Supporters)
“Lionel Messi in Paris, it would be a dream, but I don’t think it will come true. Neymar, he responds to an Argentinian television which asks him if he wants to play again with Messi. What do you want him to answer other than a “yes, right away, whether in my garden or at PSG.” But it’s extremely complicated. Messi earns 80M € gross per year. Under current conditions, this is impossible for PSG. In addition, there are presidential elections in Barça, and each of the candidates will promise him a big contract and a big signing bonus,” Moatti said.
“A departure from Mbappé? To go where? Would Real Madrid have the means to put € 300M on Mbappé? This is not how it is. It’s not Mbappé is going to go there, then the other here, the other over there. I think everyone will stay where they are.”
