After the dismissal of Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel, reports suggest that the capital club will be bringing in former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.
With the Argentine tactician’s pending arrival, Le Parisien speculates what the hiring means for PSG’s reported pursuit of FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi this upcoming summer.
The 33-year-old will be free to go anywhere in a few months, and Les Parisiens’ hierarchy dream of bringing Messi to the French capital. The French media uses three points to conclude that Pochettino’s hire is connected to their pursuit of Messi this summer.
For one, there’s the Argentina connection with both being Argentine, played for the country’s national team, and speak the same language. Second, both have had their run-ins while Pochettino coached in La Liga with RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, so there might be a mutual respect factor. Third, both started their football careers at Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
Whether this is the end plot or not, having Pochettino does increase their chances of luring Messi to Paris.
