Former PSG Midfielder Pinpoints the One Reason for Why the Club Has Struggled as of Late

Paris Saint-Germain is currently in the midst of one of its worst runs in Ligue 1 since Thomas Tuchel took over as its manager. PSG has won just two out of its last six league fixtures, which is a run not seen since the end of the 2018-2019 season. As a result, PSG currently sits in third place in the Ligue 1 standings.

Former PSG midfielder Eric Rabesandratana has kept a close watch on PSG as of late. For Rabesandratana, he believes that PSG is still relying on its top stars to carry the team, including Neymar. And with the Brazilian now out of action due to injury, Rabesandratana has noticed that this flaw of PSG is now being exposed.

The former French talent spoke further to Le Parisien about this dilemma.

“You are always dependent on your stars, whether they are there, but in poor shape, or whether they are not there,” Rabesandratana said. “As you have no background, you depend on individualities. It’s Neymar at the top who takes you to the final of the Champions League. I’m not trying to push myself, but it’s a reality: there is no playing field at PSG and that’s a problem.”

PSG will look to get back on track in its upcoming matchup against Strasbourg.
