Brazilian national team manager Tite is lauding Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar for his growing maturity and strong leadership with the French club.
Neymar has emerged as one of the team leaders at PSG. While Neymar does not hold a team captain role, he has exemplified that he can be relied on as a leader at the club. Tite has taken note of Neymar and is quite impressed with the forward’s keen maturity. Tite provided his thoughts on the PSG forward in an interview with the Brazilian-based station SporTV.
“Sometimes, maturity comes with time and the mistakes we make as well,” Tite said. “Today, as he manifests himself in his behavior and attitudes, he brings a voice that echoes, because he is a leader, and what he says reverberates. It is important that he grows up, he is matured, everything he does around him will echo.”
Tite also revealed who he picked to win this year’s The Best FIFA Men’s Player award. It is no surprise that the Brazilian manager picked Neymar to claim the honor.
“About being the best in the world, in my vote there were three athletes: Neymar, Lewandowski and De Bruyne,” Tite said. “Neymar has evolved not only as a person, but also in his technical performance. He is a finishing player, but also a frame player. He’s a bow and arrow.”
Neymar sure has a strong case to win the award, especially after he led PSG to a domestic treble-winning season earlier this year along with an appearance in the Champions League final. But the odds do point to FC Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski being the favorite to claim the award following his stout goal-scoring season in domestic and Champions League play.
