Barcelona Interim President Claims That There is Currently ‘No Money’ to Bring Back Neymar to the Club

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar’s public comments yesterday about wanting to reunite with Barcelona star Lionel Messi opened up a domino effect of rumors and reports. Some reports are linking Neymar to a possible return to Barcelona while others are pushing the Messi to PSG rumor. With the former, it may not be possible at all for the time being.

Barcelona interim president Carlos Tusquets recently responded to the rumors linking Neymar to the Catalan club. Tusquets (via AS) was straightforward in his response that as of now, this option is not one that the club can afford to go on and complete.

“If Neymar comes on a free transfer, then it could be considered, if not, no, as there is no money to sign him,” Tusquets said. “The only way around this would be the new president delivering some sort of miracle and subsequent getting approvals from the sporting directors.”

This, of course, would open up the possibility of Messi joining PSG to once again play alongside Neymar. Messi is slated to become a free agent next year, so the rumors linking him to PSG are ones that are projected to garner plenty of traction soon.
