‘At the Moment, He Is the Best Player in the World’ – Former PSG Striker Ranks Neymar Ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Paris Saint-Germain got off to a horrible start in the UEFA Champions League group stage as they lost two of three to start the competition. The capital club was staring UEFA Europa League in the face as they needed to win three in a row to avoid such catastrophe.

With Les Parisiens needing someone to drag them from the brink of embarrassment, Neymar Jr. came to the rescue. In the last three fixtures against RB Leipzig, Manchester United FC, and İstanbul Başakşehir, the 28-year-old had six goals and eight key passes.

The Brazil international showed up when PSG needed their superstar the most. Furthermore, with the struggles of Kylian Mbappé, who had trouble scoring goals in the group stage, Neymar carried PSG offensively.

As Neymar displayed leadership and put together some of the best performances in a PSG kit to help guide the capital club out of a difficult situation. Plenty of football pundits began singing a different tune when it comes to Neymar.

On Late Football Club, former PSG striker Mickaël Madar called Neymar the best player in the world right now.

“Neymar turned public opinion upside down. I recall that at one point, the debate was focused on the fact that he was a cheater, that he cried all the time, that he dribbled without thinking of his partners, etc. He turned everyone around because he’s, I think, the best player in the world right now,” Madar said.

“Overall, for some time, I find that this player shows qualities that are not found elsewhere. Messi and Ronaldo are the best players in the world, but they are on the decline. Neymar becomes effective on statistics but also at the end of the game. He is the only one to offer such a level. At the moment, he is the best player in the world.”
