Brazilian media outlet O Globo reported that Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. would be hosting a five-day New Year’s Eve party with 500 people at his mansion in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro.
The South American country is third worldwide when it comes to coronavirus cases, with 7,506,890, which have resulted in 191,641 deaths per Worldometers. A party with a significant number of people in a country with a hard time containing the virus wasn’t a good look for the 28-year-old.
Nonetheless, Fabrica, the agency organizing the event, states that reports of 500 friends and celebrities were due to attend was false and that only 150 people would be in attendance, ESPN reports.
Furthermore, the organizer adds that those attending will be subject to strict health rules to prevent the spread of coronavirus. With the event being private, Fabrica has acquired all relevant permissions and will comply with all the sanitary norms as determined by public bodies.
Hopefully, there will be no long-term repercussions because of this decision.
