Video: ‘We Are Always Behind the Coach’ – Herrera the Latest PSG Player To Stand Behind Tuchel as Manager

Ander Herrera made his return to the starting eleven, and the midfielder had a quality performance in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over Stade Rennais.

The Spain international played 90 minutes where he had 75 touches and one key pass. On the defensive side, Herrera had three interceptions and two tackles. After the capital club’s victory, the 31-year-old took to the microphone with Canal Plus.

One of Herrera’s first questions is over the squad’s performance despite the number of injuries they have.

“We have a lot of important players absent, Presko, Marco, Neymar, Mbappé, but we have a fantastic group,” Herrera said. “A team that is there to help everyone. Even though we lost in Germany, nobody gave up. And that, I am proud of it. We won against a good team.”

Next, the midfielder had to answer the question as to whether or not the squad still believes in manager Thomas Tuchel, who is receiving criticism for his tactics after PSG lost 2-1 to RB Leipzig on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

“We are always behind the coach. I have never seen, in 12 years of career, a team that let go of its coach. Never. Today it is the same. We’re with him. We had a fantastic season last year; we have a fantastic group. We are all together; there is no problem. We don’t listen to what’s going on outside. It’s blah blah.”
