‘The Financial Situation of the Club Makes His Signing Very Difficult’ – Former Barça Midfielder on a Possible Neymar Return

Despite former FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned from his position, the Spanish club or those connected with them continue their fixation over Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr.

In a recent interview with Diario ASformer Barça and Brazil National Team member Rivaldo spoke about a possible Neymar return. The 48-year-old brought up the PSG forward’s name due to an opinion he has over the future of Lionel Messi, who he thinks will be leaving after his contract expires.

With Messi’s status up in the air for 2021-22, the Spanish newspaper asked whether Barça should look to bring Neymar back to assume the role that Messi could leave behind. However, Rivaldo thinks that because of the 28-year-old being happy in Paris, such a move is unlikely.

“The new president of Barcelona, whoever he is, I do not think he will make a decision as potentially controversial as trying to return Neymar. Also, let’s face it, the financial situation of the club makes his signing very difficult,” Rivaldo said.

A few days ago, Sport reported that Barça presidential candidate Víctor Font doesn’t have Neymar in his plans if he were to assume the position. It seems that as the years have gone by, more are beginning to accept that maybe the Brazil international isn’t going back anytime soon.
