Report: Mbappe Willing to Sign a New Contract Deal With PSG if it Includes a Real Madrid Release Clause

Paris Saint-Germain will soon reach the stretch run regarding its future plans with Kylian Mbappe. The forward has just one more year left on his contract after this season, which is why he is among the regulars in the transfer rumor mill as of late. The two sides have not yet reached a critical stage in contract negotiations, but Mbappe may already have in mind what approach he plans to take.

Mbappe is open to signing a new contract extension deal with PSG if it includes a release clause that will allow him to leave to a select amount of clubs for a set amount, according to a report from the Spanish-based outlet AS. Among the clubs that Mbappe would prefer having this release clause for is Real Madrid.

In the big picture, the report speculates that this possible option would much favor PSG than it would for Real Madrid. The French side could set the release clause fee at a much higher amount than Real Madrid would want to dish out. The report also mentions that Real Madrid could sign Mbappe for a potential €180 million fee if he does not sign a new extension with his current club. But if Mbappe and PSG agree to an extension that includes this release clause option, the fee would be relatively higher than the aforementioned transfer amount.

Real Madrid will just have to wait and see what Mbappe and PSG decide to do regarding a possible new contract deal.
