Report: Icardi is Inching Closer Towards a Return to Feature With PSG

Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi is one of the few remaining players on the team who was part of its injury crisis last month and has not made an on-field appearance since then. Icardi returned from the October international break last month with a notable knee injury and has not yet been cleared to play in a fixture.

But Icardi continues to make significant progress towards a return to possibly soon feature with the club. RMC Sport reports that the Argentine forward trained with the team during a session on Sunday. The good news for the club is that not only did he go on to complete the session, but there were no reports of any setbacks with his injury.

For now, a final declaration has not been made on whether Icardi will feature in any capacity in the team’s upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against RB Leipzig. PSG has another scheduled training session on Monday, so the club may have a clearer picture by then on if the forward will be ready to play in the match.

The report also mentioned that midfielders Marco Verratti and Ander Herrera did not take part in the training session. But this does not necessarily rule them out from PSG’s fixture against Leipzig. As with Icardi, the club will surely continue to monitor their respective injuries and determine if they each are fit enough to play in this upcoming key fixture.
