Former PSG President Questions Whether the Club’s Players Still Back Tuchel

It has been a bumpy season for Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel, from injury issues to losses in pivotal games. The German manager is also already facing questions surrounding his status with the club. At the moment, there has been no serious indication that the club’s board is now leaning towards sacking Tuchel. But this could change soon, pending the team’s upcoming performances.

Former PSG president Charles Villeneuve is well familiar with the behind-the-scenes chaos that could transpire within a club. And for Villeneuve, he is not much of a fan of Tuchel this season. For one, he is questioning some of Tuchel’s lineup decisions. Villeneuve spoke further to Le Parisien about one particular tactical dilemma that he is not very fond of.

“Marquinhos is not a natural number six,” Villeneuve said. “By pushing Danilo back a notch and advancing Marquinhos, Paris is making things more difficult. You may have to wonder what the players’ support for this formula is.”

Villeneuve is also bringing to question whether the players on the squad back Tuchel.

“I would worry about the opinion of the players, in order to know if they are still behind the coach,” Villeneuve said. “If the players do not understand the coach’s choices, there is a breach.”

Overall, Tuchel still has time to turn the tide within the team.
