Former French Midfielder Analyzes PSG’s Recent Lackluster Attacking Performances

Former French midfielder Eric Rabesandratana is among those raising the warning signs about Paris Saint-Germain’s lowly attacking performances as of late.

In PSG’s recent three fixtures, the club has not had its way in dominating contests as many are used to seeing. PSG has only scored a mere two open play goals in its last three fixtures, which is not a positive sign at this point in the season. Even though the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have recovered from their respective minor injuries, PSG is still struggling to showcase a free-flowing attack on a game-by-game basis.

Rabesandratana is thoroughly concerned with PSG’s attacking performances as of late. He spoke further to France Bleu Paris about the team’s recent showings.

“Players want to make a difference alone,” Rabesandratana said. “The physical part is the most worrying in these last three matches. I think there is a mindset issue too. The offensive players, they play alone, they try things but individually.”

PSG has an upcoming key UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Manchester United. Rabesandratana highlighted four attacking players who will likely feature in the game.

“Moise Kean seems obvious, between defensive work and offensive proposals, he becomes the holder for me,” Rabesandratana. “We will have to find a solution in front because we have Mbappe who does not shine. We have Di Maria who seems tired too. We have Neymar who tries to find the solution on his own.”

It will be interesting to see on which possible changes Tuchel may make for the fixture. Along with the players who Rabesandratana mentioned, Mauro Icardi could also play a role for the team against Manchester United.

At the least, Tuchel has all of his attacking options available and healthy.
