Thiago Silva may have moved on from Paris Saint-Germain, but the former capital club captain’s name was in the news.
In December 2018, a robbery was reported in Silva’s then home. Nearly € 1.2 million of jewelry and watches were stolen by two suspected burglars known as “Le Chat” and “Bouks” while the Brazil international played in a match for the capital club.
Fast forward nearly two years later, one of the two men has confessed to the crime, according to L’Equipe (via Canal Supporters). Le Chat is the criminal who decided to reveal his accomplice and explain what happened during and after the robbery.
The two went into Silva’s home, expecting they’d find more money, and although the watches had some value, it wasn’t what they were expecting. Le Chat explains that in the end, the heist wasn’t worth it.
“What there was, wasn’t worth that at all,” Le Chat said. “There were maybe twenty (watches) in total, as there were some in a little box next to the safe as well, but those were not valuable watches. From what I understood, these were watches that Thiago Silva was promoting to increase their value.”
Nonetheless, the men did spend the money that the watches brought in on and quickly wasted in Morocco, especially in nightclubs and bars.
