‘We Have a Score to Settle’ — RB Leipzig Sporting Director on Meeting PSG in This Season’s Champions League Group Stage

RB Leipzig had one memorable cinderella run over the knockout stage of last season’s UEFA Champions League competition. In its first-ever appearance in the knockout stage, the Bundesliga side eliminated Tottenham and Atletico Madrid before being sent home by Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.

Leipzig showed that it can match up with some of the most notable clubs in the competition. This season, Leipzig will surely be aiming to make another deep run in the tournament, but the club also has its sights set on PSG. The two clubs were drawn into the same Champions League group and will face off twice later this year. For RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche, he is certainly (AFP, via RMC Sport) looking forward to both fixtures.

“We showed last season that we can do it,” Krosche said. “Paris, we have known them since the semifinal, we have a score to settle. I believe what we showed in the last Champions League attracted attention, we reached the semifinals, with a team very young who showed that she could compete internationally.”

Even though PSG comfortably took care of business against Leipzig with a 3-0 victory over the semifinal round last season, the German side showed that it is not a team that will roll over and throw in the towel against top competition. PSG knows that it will not be an effortless job to take both wins against them.
