On matchday two for the CONMEBOL qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. registers a hat-trick to help the Brazil National Team win 4-2 over Peru in Lima. Overall, Neymar had three goals and two assists over two qualifying matches.
Neymar’s hat-trick against the Peru National Team allowed for the 28-year-old to bypass Ronaldo for second on Brazil’s all-time goal-scoring list. After the match, Seleção manager Tite spoke with the media, where he praised Neymar’s performance.
“Each historic moment of the national team, each generation has its own value. There is Ronaldo, an extraordinary phenomenon. There is Rivaldo, Romario, Bebeto, each at their own time. It is unfair to make comparisons in the stages of each one,” Tite said.
“What I can say is that Neymar has this unpredictability. He has a bow and arrows. He is the player for the assist but also for the finish. He does it better and better and with an increasing degree of maturity”
