Report: Di María To Receive Call up for Argentina’s World Cup Qualifiers

One of the talking points in Argentina was over Ángel Di María not receiving a call-up for their national team’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Bolivia.

It’s a decision that bothered the Paris Saint-Germain forward because he made it known that he’s still at the level to contribute to the national team despite being 32-years-old.

“If I break my eye in the club, it is to try to have a chance in the National Team and be able to compete,” Di María said. “It is difficult to understand that being in a good moment, I am not summoned, and they have not given me either. If I am not summoned It’s because they don’t want to call me, I’ll keep fighting to be in the National Team. Am I old at 32?”

Nonetheless, TyC Sports reports that Argentina National Team manager Lionel Scaloni will call up El Fideo for their next set of World Cup qualifiers as they will host Paraguay and visit Peru in mid-November.

Furthermore, this will be Di María’s first action with Argentina since last year’s Copa America. Once again fell short of expectations at the international level when they lost 2-0 to Brazil in the semi-finals.

If Di María continues to be a factor for the national team, he will be 33-year’s old for next summers Copa America and 34-years-old when the World Cup rolls around in 2022.
