French national team manager Didier Deschamps has called up Paris Saint-Germain’s duo of Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe for the team’s international fixtures this month, the French Football Federation announced on its official website.
France will have two highly anticipated UEFA Nations League fixtures later this month when it takes on Portugal and Croatia. France has not faced Portugal in a competitive fixture since the 2016 European Championship Final. Les Bleus just recently faced Croatia last month when it took home a 4-2 win. Both Mbappe and Kimpembe did not play in the victory against Croatia.
France currently stands at second place in Group A3, so wins in both fixtures can push it closer towards securing a spot in the Nations League knockout stage.
Before France takes on both foes, it will face Ukraine in a friendly fixture on Oct. 7.
Mbappe is already a regular starter for France while Kimpembe is still working on earning a consistent spot in Deschamps’ starting lineup.
