A month has passed since Marco Verratti injured his calf, which only allowed the 27-year-old to come on as a substitute during the UEFA Champions League’s knockout stages for Paris Saint-Germain. However, despite the few weeks off, the Italy international isn’t fully fit.
In his press conference ahead of the capital club traveling to open up their Ligue 1 season against RC Lens, manager Thomas Tuchel discussed the status of Verratti.
“He did all the training with us. He’s not 100-percent, but he’s ready to play. The progression is good,” Tuchel said. “We must be responsible with him. It is not possible that we only use him because the others are not there. We’ll use it if it’s ready. I am very positive with him.”
With seven players already out due to contracting the coronavirus, Tuchel is hoping that he will have the anchor of the midfield available.
