After the Ligue de Football Professionnel Disciplinary Committee handed Ángel Di María a four game suspension for his behavior in Le Classique as a result of a dispute with defender Álvaro González in which the 32-year-old spit in the face of the Olympique de Marseille defender.
The capital club continues to be without Neymar Jr., so this isn’t good news for Les Parisiens, as the player has been in good form since returning from contracting the coronavirus.
French football pundit Omar Da Fonseca provided his thoughts on RMC Sport’s Top of the Foot over his fellow countrymen’s public image.
“Di Maria? Yes, it is not appreciated at its true value. He has been to Benfica, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, so his background means that the football world cannot consider him an average player. But he behaves like Messi’s, he’s less dazzling. He did not either play in the final of the World Cup or in the final of the Copa America, even if he was exceptional at the 2014 World Cup,” Da Fonseca said.
“But apart from his characteristics, despite his exceptional gestures such as his kicking with the scarf, he is a disturbing player because he has no impact, who is not physical enough! His absence in selection? Because the new coach wanted to turn a page. He wants to keep only Messi and put the players who turn around. Like at FC Barcelona.”
🗣 "En dehors de ses caractéristiques, c'est un joueur qui dérange car ce n'est pas quelqu'un qui a de l'impact."
