Report: PSG Aiming to Sell Goalkeeper Areola

Paris Saint-Germain is seeking to offload current goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, according to a report from Le Parisien.

The report mentions that with PSG’s decision to keep Sergio Rico as the number two goalkeeper behind Keylor Navas for the upcoming campaign, the club is now looking to part ways with Areola. Both sides have already agreed to a departure and now it is up to PSG to find a buyer for him. The club would much prefer to sell the goalkeeper rather than loan him off to another team again. For the moment, there have been no reports of any team submitting a bid to acquire the French goalkeeper.

One team that has shown relative interest in a deal for Areola is Ligue 1 side Rennes. According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Rennes is currently in the market for a new starting goalkeeper and views Areola as one possible option to fill the soon-to-be vacancy. The club could prefer a loan option to acquire him for the now ongoing season, which may not interest PSG.

Areola is on a contract for three more seasons, which could help him net more suitors before the current transfer window closes next month.
