‘We Deserve Our Final’ — Bernat on PSG’s Champions League Semifinal Win Over RB Leipzig

In a monumental season-defining fixture, Paris Saint-Germain took care of business against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League semifinals with a 3-0 win. The victory moved PSG to its first-ever Champions League final.

PSG had several key contributors in the win, including left-back Juan Bernat. The Spanish defender put the tie to rest in the second half, scoring a header goal that provided PSG with the 3-0 lead. In speaking to PSG TV, Bernat gave his thoughts on qualifying for the Champions League final and why his side deserved to clinch a spot in the biggest club fixture in world football today.

“The most important thing was to qualify for the final and that’s what we expected,” Bernat said. “We deserve our final. The team was solid from the first minute and the result is final with this 3-0. I’m not used to scoring with a header but it’s always nice.”

The focus for PSG now shifts to the Champions League final, which will be the most anticipated fixture in the club’s storied history. Bernat is certainly ready for the upcoming historic contest.

“We are very happy, the team played a great game and we can’t wait to be the final on Sunday,” Bernat said. “There is one game left now.”

The Champions League final is set for Aug. 23.
