A goal and two assists would be enough for Ángel Di María to earn man of the match as Paris Saint-Germain defeated RB Leipzig 3-0 to advance to the UEFA Champions League final.
The 32-year-old took to the microphone after the match to talk with the media where Canal Supporters relayed his comments.
Di María opened up about what advancing to the final means to him.
“I’m happy. The team did a great job and a great game. We wanted to make the history of the club, and we succeeded. Now we are in the final, and if we continue like today, it could help us for the final,” Di María said. “The level of PSG against RB Leipzig? I think we played 100%, at the start of the match it’s always 50-50 and we knew that with this enormous energy we could qualify. The start of the match was good, and we continued.”
Next, the Argentina international talked about making history with PSG as they’re one win away from the club’s first Champions League trophy.
“We will definitely not be able to sleep with this final in mind. Afterward, we have to work on the match. We will do it every day,” Di María said. “We have read a lot of things lately, we have seen that the French and German championships are good. We will work on the match regardless of the opponent. We will give the maximum.”
Finally, Di María answered on where this final ranks in his career of achievements.
“With Real Madrid, I won here (in Lisbon in 2014). The feeling was incredible,” Di María said. “We are also at a high level, it is not all the time spectacular but no matter which player is playing, the level does not drop. We are just one step away from making history for PSG.”
