The end of the road has come for one Paris Saint-Germain legend, as center-back Thiago Silva has left the club. Silva’s contract with PSG expired following the 2020 UEFA Champions League Final, and the club’s board remained stern on its stance to not offer the defender a contract extension deal. The Brazilian defender is now bound for a move to Chelsea.
On his official Instagram account, Silva again confirmed his departure from the club. In the post, the Brazilian defender wrote: “Today a cycle ends, after 8 years within the team of PSG, I would like to thank my teammates, the whole technical team and the management, the fans, my family, God and my friends, for all these happy moments that we have lived in the City of Light.”
Silva won 25 trophies at PSG and helped the club reach its first-ever Champions League final. Not many former Ligue 1 players had an impact on a club quite like the one that Silva had on PSG.
