Marco Verratti

Report: Verratti Will Not Feature Against RB Leipzig in Champions League Semifinal

Marco Verratti will not play in Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League semifinal clash against Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, according to L’Equipe.

Verratti has been out of action since suffering a calf injury in training over a week ago. He went on to miss PSG’s Champions League quarterfinal bout against Atalanta due to his ailment.

Verratti arrived at training on Saturday, but he did not take part in PSG manager Thomas Tuchel’s scheduled collective session on the day. Instead, PSG’s medical staff conducted tests on the Italian international to further evaluate his injury, and he underwent treatment on his calf as well.

PSG club officials aspire to see Verratti soon recover from his injury so he can play in the Champions League final should the Ligue 1 powerhouse defeat RB Leipzig in the semifinal round.

Even if PSG does not advance to the Champions League final, Verratti will continue to rehab his calf ailment, especially as the new Ligue 1 season will kick off later this month.
