Paris Saint-Germain remains strongly interested in coming to terms on a contract extension agreement with forward Kylian Mbappe, according to a report from the French-based publication Le Journal du Dimanche.
Mbappe is set to become a free agent in 2022, where he would then become eligible to sign with any team without a transfer fee being posted to acquire him. However, it is becoming clear that PSG do not want to wait until 2022 to complete a contract extension deal. The club aspires to keep Mbappe for the long-term.
Real Madrid has been the team most interested in completing a blockbuster deal for Mbappe. According to a recent report from the Spanish-based publication AS, Real Madrid will hold off pursuing Mbappe until 2021. The club hopes to sign Mbappe next year if he still has not come to a contract extension agreement with PSG.
At the moment, no reports have emerged stating that PSG’s board and representatives from Mbappe’s camp have had serious deep talks on a contract extension agreement. But this is given considering that Mbappe and his side have their focus centered on the ongoing UEFA Champions League tournament.
