Edinson Cavani remains without a club after departing Paris Saint-Germain in June. The 33-year-old is reportedly closing in on a contract with SL Benfica; however, there’s no public agreement from both parties.
With the Uruguay international looking for a club, there’s one Brazilian team that is contacting his representatives in hopes that El Matador is open to returning to South America.
According to Globo Esporte, Clube Atlético Mineiro is looking to make a big splash by landing PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer. The Brazilian media outlet states that Cavani is open to playing in Brazil because it will only him remain close to family.
However, Cavani has gone on the record by saying that his preference is to stay in Europe since he’d like to play for Uruguay’s National Team in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Minero seems like a security blanket for Cavani if a European club cannot meet his demands when it comes to wages and term length.
