France national team manager Didier Deschamps has called up Paris Saint-Germain talents Kylian Mbappe and Presnel Kimpembe for the team’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, according to the federation’s official website.
Both Mbappe and Kimpembe were among 23 French talents picked by Deschamps for the squad list. France is slated to kick off the new UEFA Nations League competition with fixtures against Sweden on Sept. 5 and against Croatia on Sept. 8. Portugal is the fourth team in France’s Nations League group and Les Bleus will face it in November.
Mbappe and Kimpembe were favorites to be picked for the upcoming duo of fixtures because of their recent form. The French forward has recovered from his ankle injury and should be a candidate to start against the two European sides. Kimpembe is currently in top form, especially after his quality performance against FC Bayern Munich in the recent 2020 UEFA Champions League Final. Kimpembe will face competition from the likes of Raphael Varane and Clement Lenglet for a starting center-back spot.
