‘It May Be An Open Match’ — Sarabia on Champions League Quarter-Final Fixture Against Atalanta

The UEFA Champions League fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Atalanta is now just two days away. Numerous players and coaches from both teams have provided their input on what should be expected from the fixture. Many PSG players are sounding confident heading into the tie, with one of the reasons being the current unity within the team. PSG attacking talent Pablo Sarabia is echoing this feeling as well.

In speaking to PSG TV, Sarabia gave his thoughts on the togetherness that has formed within the team.

“I think it’s a great group,” Sarabia said. “I’ve said it before, when I arrived here I expected a different kind of team, a little bit more individual-orientated, but it’s been the opposite. When I arrived, I found a good team, nice people and good teammates. It’s true that, as a group, we’ve been able to develop some good cohesion which I think is a very important part of forming a good group, because in the good times and the bad, that’s when you’ve got to show it.”

Sarabia and company will face an Atalanta side unlike one they have seen before this season. The Spanish playmaker lauded Atalanta’s playstyle and provided some insight into how PSG may approach the contest.

“They’re doing well,” Sarabia said. “They’ve shown they can play, they try to apply pressure up front, they have great players who can score plenty of goals. What we’ll try to do with our weapons and our football is to neutralize our opponent’s strengths and demonstrate our own. It may be an open match.”

PSG will have the opportunity to reach its second-ever Champions League semifinal. Sarabia further talked about what it would mean for this group to achieve the feat.

“Yeah it’s a unique chance that we have,” Sarabia said. “We’re going to try to make it a reality and make history for Paris Saint-Germain. I think now is an ideal time to do it. We’ve been focused on it for a while now. We have to be ready, to thoroughly study our rival and perform really well to be able to make history.”
