Former PSG Manager Luis Fernandez Wants the Club to Back Tuchel

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Fernandez is a fan of the club’s current man in charge in Thomas Tuchel and hopes that the board will back him.

Tuchel enjoyed great success this past season. In domestic competitions, PSG won the treble, which included Tuchel’s second Ligue 1 title as manager of the club. In Champions League play, PSG surpassed expectations by reaching its first-ever final. With both of these achievements in mind, Fernandez talked to France Football (via Canal Supporters) about his hope that PSG’s board will back Tuchel.

“You have to keep Tuchel, of course,” Fernandez said. “He improved the group and took them to the C1 final. The stars of the workforce adhere to his speech. This is proof that they are fully into the project. He has control over the players and has created a strong group on a human level, within which a true friendship reigns.”

Fernandez also singled out Tuchel’s growing relationship with Neymar. The former PSG manager applauded Tuchel for mending the once-rocky bond that he once had with the Brazilian superstar.

“He was able to pick up the thread with Neymar, who has gone through a lot of difficult times since his arrival and does not have a good relationship with Leonardo,” Fernandez said. “He was able to give him back the joy of playing. Such a human dimension is one of the qualities of a great coach.”

At the moment, there have been no serious reports noting that PSG aspires to sack Tuchel.
