Tuchel On Mbappé’s Decision to Stay With PSG for Next Season

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s convincing 4-0 friendly win over Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC, Kylian Mbappé confirmed what was inevitable. Amid transfer rumors and links with several clubs, he declared of his intentions to stay with PSG for next season.

In his post-game press conference (via Culture PSG), manager Thomas Tuchel provided his thoughts on Mbappé’s announcement. The German manager is certainly pleased that he will have the Frenchman to rely on up front in the attack for another season.

“He’s under contract in Paris, with us, and we’re not ready to sell guys,” Tuchel said. “It is super important. He’s a key player, he’s our player. It’s a gift to work with him.”

In the friendly win over Celtic, Mbappé and Neymar provided a typically dominant performance. With goals from the two, Celtic simply had no answer. Tuchel lauded the connection from these two and spoke on why it is important for the team to have them in-form and game-ready.

“There is a really good connection between Ney and Kylian,” Tuchel said. “It gives everyone a lot of pleasure and it’s a real strength for PSG. It’s great like that.”

Tuchel and the coaching staff sure do hope to see this duo perform at a high level over the team’s upcoming key fixtures.
