Report: Sevilla Interested in Signing PSG Defender With One Year Left on Contract

Juan Bernat’s contract expires next June, and the 27-year-old will be in line for a new deal. Whether or not that extension comes from Paris Saint-Germain remains to be seen. With one year left on his contract, there is one club circling Bernat as a potential transfer target: Sevilla FC.

According to La Colina de NervionMonchi, the director of football for Sevilla, has targeted Bernat as a potential reinforcement at left-back for the Spanish club. When reading through the article, it doesn’t provide a hint that they’re willing to pay a transfer fee.

Perhaps Sevilla is hoping that the Spain international plays through his contract, which would allow him to leave on a free transfer, and the club would have to worry about his wage demands. However, Sevilla might not be the only Spanish club interested in Bernat.

Back in May, there was a report linking the left-back to FC Barcelona and they would love nothing more than to get a PSG player on a free transfer.

Bernat’s resurgence following his move from FC Bayern Munich in 2018 has put him on the radar for several clubs in Spain but if he has another solid season in the French capital, I expect Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, to offer him a new deal to keep him at the club past 2021.
