Paris Saint-Germain had already notched a spot in the 2020 Trophee des Champions Final with its clinching of the Ligue 1 title back in April. Now with its Coupe de France win against AS Saint-Etienne, PSG will square off with Olympique de Marseille in the French super cup final due to the latter’s second-place finish in league play this past season.
The Trophee des Champions final is typically held in the summer, but this may not be the case this year. According to RMC Sport, the Ligue de Football Professionnel may be looking to move the final up to this January. No location has been officially set for the final.
With PSG set to feature in UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 fixtures in August, there is a slim chance that the final will be played next month. PSG’s schedule will also be packed over the fall, with European, Ligue 1, and domestic cup contests set to be scheduled.
The Trophee des Champions final was featured in China over the past two years, and the LFP sought to move it back to the United States this year. According to a February report from L’Equipe, the LFP looked to Minneapolis, Minnesota as one of the possible locations to host the fixture.
A win for PSG in the final would give it an eighth straight Trophee des Champions title.
