Mbappé Set for MRI on Monday

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is set for an MRI on Monday, according to a report from Le Parisien.

Mbappe suffered an ankle sprain injury during the first half of Friday’s Coupe de France final against AS Saint-Etienne. The injury occurred following an unnecessary sliding tackle attempt from Saint-Etienne defender and team captain Loic Perrin. The Saint-Etienne talent received a red card for the challenge while Mbappe was forced to leave the final early due to the injury.

PSG announced on Saturday that Mbappe had a “serious right ankle sprain to the external lateral compartment.” Monday’s MRI will reveal more about the extent of his injury and an estimate as to how long the Frenchman will be out of action. But regardless of the official diagnosis, it is highly unlikely that he will feature in the upcoming Coupe de la Ligue against Olympique Lyonnais.

All that PSG can hope for is that he will be fit and ready to go for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal bout against Serie A side Atalanta.
