Former PSG Prospect Set To Sign For Saint-Étienne Next Week

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Adil Aouchiche is ready to move on to Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Etienne (via RMC Sport). The former PSG youth prospect will sign a three-year contract with Saint-Étienne and officially confirm the signing on either Sunday or Monday.

The 18-year-old elected not to sign his first professional contract with PSG and chose to explore a move elsewhere as a free agent. Multiple teams showed initial interest in bringing in the promising midfielder, including FC Bayern Munich. The reigning Bundesliga champions had already signed former PSG defender Tanguy Kouassi and seemed set on making it a double by signing Aouchiche as well. But talks with Bayern and other clubs never became anything more than just reported interest.

The move will not only keep him in his home country but provide him with plenty of playing time that would have been difficult to earn with PSG’s first-team. Saint-Étienne is a team stacked with other young prospects, so Aouchiche will still have to fight his way to become a perennial starter with the team.

Aouchiche totaled for just three appearances while with PSG. Only time will tell if both sides made the right decision to move on or if PSG will regret not keeping a midfielder filled with potential as a keen passer.
