Former PSG Manager Takes Over at Villarreal

Since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, Unai Emery’s coaching career is experiencing a lot of valleys instead of peaks.

Despite winning Ligue 1 in 2017-2018, Emery’s time in the French capital was a failure. Considering the 48-year-old allowed for AS Monaco to win the league in 2017 and was at the helm for PSG’s infamous 6-1 loss to FC Barcelona.

Les Parisiens decided to move on from Emery when they brought in Thomas Tuchel to manage the club. Instead of taking a break or perhaps coaching at a place where there’s less pressure, Emery jumped at an opportunity to manage Arsenal FC.

Managing a club in England comes with expectations, even though The Gunners are losing that status as a top club. Nonetheless, Emery was in charge of bringing back some respect for the club but failed. After 18 months, he was sacked

Now it seems that Emery understands that it’s best to go somewhere with low expectations. On Thursday, Villarreal FC announced the former PSG manager as their new coach.

We’ll see if this move back to Spain works out for Emery.
