Tuchel Unlikely to Receive Extension From Paris Saint-Germain

It’s starting to look like Thomas Tuchel will need to win the UEFA Champions League this season or next in order to save his job at Paris Saint-Germain.

Tuchel is under contract for another year in the French capital but according to L’Equipe, it’s not a given that he will be offered an extension by Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director.

Leonardo arrived last summer and Tuchel was already in place. Following the embarrassing loss against Manchester United in last season’s UEFA Champions League, Tuchel can redeem himself somewhat when this season’s competition resumes in August.

If the former Borussia Dortmund boss can lead PSG to a Champions League title in his final two seasons under contract, it would be really difficult for Leonardo to justify replacing him with someone else.

While PSG still has the chance to win four trophies this season, the campaign has not been without drama, in particular, Tuchel’s much-publicized dust-ups with superstar Kylian Mbappé on the sideline.

There’s no denying that Tuchel absolutely got the tactics right against Dortmund so while Leonardo may want to bring in his own hire, it might be worth backing the manager 100 percent and see what he can accomplish with Mbappé and Neymar in the squad.
