The news regarding Tanguy Kouassi went from bad to worse for Paris Saint-Germain.
Not only will one of the best young players in football not sign a professional contract with the Ligue 1 champions but he has decided to join a UEFA Champions League rival in FC Bayern Munich.
It would be one thing if Kouassi left for a club like RB Leipzig or Stade Rennais where he would almost be guaranteed to play and could continue his development. But, at Bayern Munich, he will face an uphill battle to see the pitch.
On Twitter, many PSG fans voiced their opinion on Kouassi’s decision. The overall sentiment was confusion with a tinge of anger. One fan compared the center-back to another Frenchman who left on a free transfer, Adrien Rabiot.
I combed through my mentions and here are the best responses to the news:
@PSGTalk this is like a 4* WR going to Georgia to sit behind 9 other 4 and 5* WRs

Strange decision of Kouassi

Him going to Bayern over staying at PSG as a youngster is an very misguided decision

It makes absolutely no sense. It’s not even a lateral move, it’s a step back

He is not gonna start for them. Wtf is he thinking?!

Start? I’ll be very surprised if he is going to leave the bench. It has to be a money thing, nothing else makes sense. Really disappointing.

I also add that in France you cannot pay a commission to the agent for the first pro contract of a young player … which is authorized in Germany.
We now understand why his agent wanted a German club.— Hisoka [ PSG ] (@Hisoka6768) June 16, 2020
I have faith he will develop into a solid player as he’s shown some flashes of that but going to bayren was the wrong move,- mid tier club that could offer him starts would give him the valuable time he’s looking for. Overall this was a bad move for the player not the club (psg)

Kouassi is leaving for less gametime? Something must have gone on behind the scenes cause the kid seems like another Rabiot.

They’re actually valid reasons if true, to be fair to him. Hopefully we nick Alaba as payback 🤞
