‘After Six Months, I Was Already Announced at Chelsea’ – PSG Midfielder Dismisses Transfer Rumors

The transfer rumor mill can be relentless and it seems even more so during the coronavirus and the lack of football.

In recent weeks, Paris Saint-Germain supporters were surprised to read Idrissa Gueye’s name linked with a move away from the club. The 30-year-old midfielder only just arrived in the French capital last summer from Everton and while he had an inconsistent season, he wasn’t terrible by any means.

During a recent interview with Emedia, Gueye explained that he is not bothered by the transfer speculation and that he is in no hurry to leave PSG.

“I’m used to these rumors. For each transfer window, it’s like that for me. Even in January, once I arrived at PSG, after six months, I was already announced at Chelsea. So I’m used to it. Everything is going well for me at the club, and I am often in contact with the Sports Director (Leonardo), and there was never any question of departure… He never spoke to me about transfers or envy let me go. So, to me, these are just rumors put on the transfer market because there isn’t much at the moment.”

While Gueye’s departure is unlikely, it’s certainly possible that PSG could bring in a midfielder who could potentially reduce his role. Potential transfers include Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić, AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini, and AC Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer.

Whether any of those transfers happen or not, one thing is for certain though, and that is Gueye will not be leaving PSG any time soon.
