Mbappé Happy in France and Considering Contract Extension at PSG

That sobbing you hear is from Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and club president Florentino Pérez as they learn of the recent news that Kylian Mbappé is considering a lucrative contract extension to remain at Paris Saint-Germain.

According to L’Equipe (Daily Mail), Mbappé is said to be happy in Paris and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, is reportedly prepared to offer the 21-year-old FIFA World Cup winner a contract extension that would bring his wages on par with his teammate, Neymar Jr.

Neymar currently earns almost double what Mbappé does, which doesn’t seem right considering both are similar in world-class ability. The Brazilian is also in line to receive a contract extension according to ESPN.

Mbappé’s current contract with PSG expires in 2022 and it was reported that Real Madrid planned to wait until the summer of 2021 to make their bid. The idea being that PSG wouldn’t want to lose their superstar on a free the following season and would be willing to negotiate.

It’s possible PSG could keep Mbappé until 2022 and let him leave on a free transfer but obviously, the ideal outcome, if you’re a PSG fan, is that Mbappé signs a contract extension now to quiet the transfer rumors.

The uncertainty of the transfer market due to the coronavirus could aid PSG in not only extending Mbappé but Neymar as well as few clubs could realistically afford their transfer fee and wages. If that were to happen, Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, might deserve statues outside the Parc des Princes.
