Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was named the most powerful person in world football by France Football and when asked to name a few outstanding players, he went with a couple of former PSG players but also one superstar who has been linked with a move to the French capital in the past.
“Year after year, Cristiano Ronaldo shows a unique determination, an extraordinary strength of character,” Al-Khelaifi told the publication. “He remains driven by this desire to improve every day and he always pushes his limits. I admire this relentless will, he is a great example for all athletes in the making.”
There’s no doubt that at 35-year-old, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down at Juventus FC. The Portugal international is tied to the Turin-based club for another two years but given the financial impact of the coronavirus, they may be open to a transfer if PSG comes calling.
Ronaldo has won league titles in England, Italy, and Spain, so maybe coming to France and adding another trophy to his mantle would be an intriguing new challenge.
Unfortunately, with so much money tied up in Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. I can’t imagine PSG could afford Ronaldo even with their financial resources. Also, with those players out on the wing, I’m not sure where Ronaldo would fit in.
For now, it appears Al-Khelaifi will have to admire Ronaldo from afar.
