Anyone else wish Unai Emery would just stop talking?
In an interview with AS, the former Paris Saint-Germain manager said that Kylian Mbappé has the ability to start something special at one specific La Liga club.
“Of course he has the ability to mark an era in Madrid. Which league would I advise him to play in? When I was in France, I loved watching him play and I was happy to be able to see him first hand. When I went to England, I would have liked to have seen him play in the Premier League. And if I return to Spain, I hope he comes to La Liga.”
Real Madrid has made Mbappé their number one transfer target but will have to wait until 2021 when they hope he will only have one year left on his contract at PSG and will be available for a lower fee than what it would cost them now.
Well aware of Madrid’s interest, Emery shared why the young Frenchman might be intrigued with a move to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
“I’m sure there will be some things about being at PSG that will give him what he needs and maybe other things that won’t. And perhaps Real Madrid might be able to offer him some of the things that he is lacking at PSG. We are lucky to have two of the best teams in the world—Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, and I personally would like them to continue having the best players in the world.”
These comments from Emery come on the heels of his previous remarks last January in which he stated that Neymar needed to return to Spain because “the best players have to be in the best teams.”
Did I miss the part where Emery became a spokesperson for La Liga? I know that no big club wants to hire him as their manager because he’s been an abject failure since leaving Sevilla FC, but why is he openly recruiting for PSG’s two biggest stars to come to Spain?
Something tells me Emery won’t be invited to the Parc des Princes during the upcoming season to celebrate PSG’s 50th anniversary.
