Paris Saint-Germain wants to improve their midfield, preferably by signing a tall player who can bring some much-needed physicality. However, the capital club has shown reported interest in Tanguy Ndombele, despite the 23-year-old being 5’11”.
According to TF1 (via Get French Football News), Tottenham Hotspur will not stand in the way of Ndombele’s potential departure. Now when it comes to the Spurs midfielder, there’s a split between among those in charge.
PSG sporting director, Leonardo, would prefer to seek other options at midfield; meanwhile, the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, admires Ndombele and likely hopes that they pursue him.
2/2 #Mercato @telefoot_TF1— Julien Maynard (@JulienMaynard) April 28, 2020
If PSG does decide to pursue the former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder, they’ll face some stiff competition as FC Barcelona and Juventus FC is also in pursuit of Ndombele.
Nonetheless, the France international could potentially solve PSG’s hole at the defensive midfielder position considering Idrissa Gueye is in his 30s and should transition more to a box-to-box role to prevent any injuries from occurring.
This is definitely a transfer to keep an eye on.
