In a recent interview with Sport Bible (via Culture PSG), former Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie, spotlighted Edinson Cavani as a potential target for his former club.
As many already know, El Matador’s days with Paris Saint-Germain are coming to an end as his contract expires in June. Once his time in Paris is over, the Uruguayan will look elsewhere to continue his European career.
With bridges perhaps burned with Atlético Madrid over the failed transfer this past winter, Cavani could look at other options in the summer. With a striker position that’s up for the taking, Manchester United does seem like an attractive offer.
If Cavani were to consider the English club, it would bring a smile to van Persie’s face because of how highly the Dutchman speaks about the 33-year-old.
“For Manchester United, I would certainly choose Cavani: he is very fit, he is an experienced goalscorer, a goal machine,” van Persie said. “He proved it in Naples, at PSG, and with Uruguay.”
Furthermore, the former Red Devil striker believes that El Matador can put together a 25-goal campaign despite his age. We’ll have to wait and see if Manchester United decides to take the advice of their former player and pursue Cavani this summer.
