Another Midfielder Out For Dortmund Rematch; Silva Status Unknown

One of the major talking points to come out of the 4-3 win over Girondins de Bordeaux on Sunday at the Parc des Princes was the injury to Thiago Silva who was subbed off in the 17th minute.

Silva came up lame after sprinting back on defense and gingerly walked off the pitch it what appeared to be a muscle injury to his right thigh.

“Thiago came out with a muscle injury, not too serious but enough to come out,” PSG manager Thomas Tuchel said after the match. “I’m a little worried but we have to wait two to three days to find out more.”

According to a report from Le Parisien, Silva’s wife shared an update that the early news regarding her husband’s injury is positive saying, “Thank God, nothing serious.”

We won’t know the true extent of Silva’s injury until later this week but it could have a huge impact on how Tuchel sets up his team against Borussia Dortmund on March 11 and leave a gaping hole in the midfield.

If Silva is out, Marquinhos, who played as a defensive midfielder against Dortmund, would replace Silva at center-back and with Marco Verratti suspended for the return leg, Tuchel would have very few midfield options remaining.

If you thought Ander Herrera could play in the midfield for PSG against Dortmund, well, you would be wrong. The report from the French publication also revealed that Herrera suffered a quadriceps lesion in the right thigh during a training session last Sunday before the Bordeaux match and he is now unavailable for several weeks.

Herrera’s arrival from Manchester United on a free transfer was applauded by fans but injuries have limited him to only 18 total appearances this season.

The bad news just keeps piling up for PSG
