Report: PSG Transfer Target Signs New Deal With Fiorentina; Price Jumps to €70M

It’s no secret that Leonardo, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, has a love affair with Serie A.

Most of PSG’s core has come from the Italian league after all (Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti, Marquinhos, and Edinson Cavani to name a few). It’s why back in November, the capital club was showing interest in ACF Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa, according to CalcioMercato.com.

Fast-forward to this month and the 22-year-old is about to sign a new contract with Fiorentina per Le10Sport.

How does a new contract impact PSG’s potential pursuit? Well, as part of Chiesa’s new contract, La Viola is going to put in a release clause of €70 million (about what his market value is according to Transfermarkt). If Les Parisiens see the young Italian as a potential reinforcement down the road, the price for them to pay is now set.

Through 15 matches for Fiorentina, Chiesa hasn’t precisely experienced a stellar season. The forward has three goals and five assists in all competitions for the club.

Now, it isn’t entirely all his fault; the squad is currently floundering near the bottom of the Italian league. In 17 matches, the team has only earned 17 points and is three points away from the relegation zone.

Regardless of what happens to Fiorentina, they’re hoping to cash in on Chiesa as clubs like PSG, Inter Milan, and Juventus FC are all hoping to land the forward.
